  • Locate curated websites to identify web 2.0 tools that meet the needs of your students
  • Embed tools in the Desire to Learn Environment

Part 1: Overview of Web 2.0 Tools

  • Presentation (Prezi, Powtoon, EdPuzzle, Screencastomatic, Thinglink)
  • Collaboration (Remind, Padlet)
  • Curated Sites (Pinterest, Learnist, EdShelf)

Part 2: Overview of Embedding into the D2L

  • Hands-On Activity:
    • Learn more about one of the tools shared earlier
    • Select a tool that meets the needs of your students
    • Embed the sample into Desire to Learn

Part 3: Creating a lesson that prepares your students for tomorrow’s world

  • Hands On Activity
    • Review the tools
    • Select a tool(s) that support a concept/subject that you will teach
    • Develop a lesson using at least one tool.
    • Embed the tool into your Desire to Learn class.

Prezi is a presentation tool that can be used as an alternative to traditional slide making programs such as PowerPoint. Instead of slides,Prezi makes use of one large canvas that allows you to pan and zoom to various parts of the canvas and emphasize the ideas presented there.



Powtoon is a simple presentation tool for awesome animated video as an alternative to using PowerPoint.



EdPuzzle: is a new innovative site that lets you take just about any video off the web, edit it down to the portions you want, add audio notes and questions for students, and create virtual classrooms where you can monitor individual student work.
